Stephen Massimilla will be reading with Ruth Danon in “The Wind and Treason”
“The wind and treason are partners, turning secrets over to the military police.” So writes the late John Ashbery in his great poem, The Skaters. The line is eerily prescient of our present moment, rife with hurricanes, Russian spies, and the implicit threat of tyranny.
Taking a cue from Ashbery’s line, Ruth Danon and Stephen Massimilla, poets from The Urban Range Poets Collective, will, on October 12th, 2017, take measure of the winds of our current moment, with particular attention to the way they impact experiences in ordinary human life. This is poetry that attempts to read and interpret signals; these are poets creating work to guide them and us through this ominous time.
